Windows is one of the most powerful as well as popular operating system in the world because it can do a lot that sometimes a Mac operating system cannot do even. Resource monitor is a trusted desktop app from Windows itself. You do not need to download it; It is already embedded in Windows 10, 8.1, 7 [Don't know about others :) ]. This Resource Monitor is classic version of modern Task Manager in Windows. It provides you all the information of where is your computer resources are used. Has the same stuffs as in that of Task Manager (Some may be missing).

Comparison between Task Manager and Resource Monitor

On comparing the performance of Task Manager with Resource Monitor, it seems as Resource Monitor would be a better one. The functions of both Resource Monitor and Task Manager are almost same but there are some huge differences between them that will make you get more attracted towards them.

Here is a tabular comparison between Task Manager and Resource Monitor. Now it depends on your choice on which one you want to use as your daily Windows spyer. My recommendation would be Resource Monitor because it also provide detailed resource consumption of system as well as Windows services such as Windows Update, Background Intelligence Transfer Service (BITS) and much more and I too use it frequently. But if you do not want to do the complicated task, so preferably Task Manager is best for you.

All of us know how to open task manager. Just right click on the taskbar and click on Task Manager.

How To open Resource Monitor?

Now, gets little complicated but not confusing. For doing so, you need to open Task Manager first. Now click on the Performance Tab on the top of Task Manager. Now at the bottom, you'll see a link to open Resource Monitor. Click on it and Resource Monitor will appear.
